It is a medical test used to view internal organs of the abdomen, such as the gallbladder, liver, spleen, pancreas and kidneys. The vena cava and the aorta can also be evaluated.
For this test, it is used an ultrasound machine that emits high frequency sound waves which are reflected in the internal tissues to create their image. To do this, a conductive gel is applied to the patient’s abdomen which helps wave transmission. It is painless.
