An anal fistula is an abnormal connection between the inner surface of the anal canal and the skin around the perianal area.
Fistulectomy or fistulotomy is the operation that solves this problem. The fistulectomy involves removing the area and fistula closing, while fistulotomy consist in removing the fistula and cleaning the path, leaving the wound open to heal.
